In spite of the website bender we went on to create and launch the new PowerUp site, complete with lack of sleep, too much caffeine, and crappy overpriced cookies from Whole Foods, we had a blast! In fact, our experience has been that launching a new website is one of the most exciting experiences an entrepreneur can have. Things become “real” in many ways, a tangible reflection of who you are, your passions, and what you offer. A big step out in the world! In that spirit, we thought it would be fun to share all the behind the scenes of the new PowerUp site and our process.

This week we’ll have a series of posts covering different aspects of building and launching the new site. Every website, regardless of scope, includes at least four areas, and tech is only one of them:

  • Design. What should the site look and feel like?
  • Functionality. What features do we need?
  • Copy. What content is important and how best to say it?
  • Usability. How should the site and its content be structured?

Of course, all of these questions are contextualized within an even larger business and marketing strategy, but we’ll go ahead and start with these areas, which are more specifically related to creating a website.

    Hi Chesea & Ryan,

I’m very impressed with your website and the very clear way you have crafted your identity & packaged & priced your services. I think it inspires confidence and clarity for prospective clients to move forward with PowerUp by demonstrating clearly what “amplification” looks like. I look forward to hearing more about your adventure in creating your new website. And I wish you much success. Get ready for growth!

    Best,

Love the new site! What woo theme did you build this from?

Hey John, thanks! We started with SophisticatedFolio. Lot of hacking here functionally to get what we wanted. But funny enough, we’ll be redesigning the site in the upcoming months. Been almost 2 years on this design and things have evolved in what we do, so we’re going to go with a new theme when we design it.
